In 1999, Sliq sold its first products to the entertainment market, instantly attracting top-tier customers such as Microsoft, MTV, Virgin Digital, NPR and many leading brands. No sooner than it had established itself as the premier supplier of cloud-based software for streaming video, the market collapsed along with the Internet economy. Luckily, a strong interest from government, enterprise and financial sectors enabled the company to scale down its offerings and provide its software as a self-hosted solution for Intranet webcasts. Sliq provided software to numerous TV and radio stations as well as movie studios and even provided back-end software for the Beijing Olympics. While still maintaining a presence in the corporate, broadcast and entertainment sectors, one special niche market that first took interest in Sliq solutions in the year 2000 started to gain momentum. This market was the legislative market. As it turned out, the Sliq recording and streaming engines, which were designed to deliver non-stop service to millions of consumers, were a perfect fit for the legislative sector. In particular, Commonwealth countries and regional legislatures were using court-reporting products to produce transcripts ("Hansard") with much pain and grief. The Sliq solution along with its extensive expertise and exceptional service was a match made in heaven and thus took over the company's primary focus.
